Mark McCoy was a left handed pitcher for the Kansas City Royals, drafted in June of 2015 in the 29th round. McCoy went to Wake Forest University for his first two years of college and transferred to Rutgers University for his Junior year. He recently finished his first season with the Kansas City Royals. He pitched in Burlington, North Carolina in rookie ball this past summer where he was the closer/set-up guy out of the pen. McCoy pitched to a 2.02 ERA in 31 innings of work with 32 strike outs. He held opponents to a .211 batting average against. McCoy Was named pitcher of the month in July 2017 and was invited to the Kansas City Royals fall instructional league this past fall.
Prior to college, he was drafted out of high school in the 26th round by the Milwaukee Brewers out of Barnegat High School and Went to college instead. McCoy also played football and basketball in high school and was a four-year varsity starter in baseball, posting a career ERA under 2.00 and a career batting average of .405. He was named all-conference in each season and was pitcher and hitter of the year in 2012 along with being named first team all shore and all state. He was named to first team All Northeast in 2012 and ranked in the Top 500 players nationally by Perfect Game. He was also named Press of Atlantic City 2011-12 Male Athlete of the Year. McCoy had the honor of pitching for the New York Yankee team in the 2011 Area Codes and for the Northeast Team at the 2011 East Coast Pro.
